WELCOME TO CLASS Y5P

Year 5

Teacher: Miss Prior.

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Standish/Mrs White.

PE is every Friday. Please ensure your child is dressed in their P.E. tracksuit on this day.

Homework is given out every Friday and expected to be returned by the following Wednesday.

Your child is registered to use TT rockstars – an online fun resource, which will support with learning their Times Tables. Please encourage your child to access this daily.

Your child is registered to use MyMaths, an online platform where you will find tasks and activities that support your child’s learning of mathematics. Please follow the link at:  https://www.mymaths.co.uk/ You will find your child’s login details in their reading record book.

We have registered your child to use Reading Plus, a really lovely online resource that has a wealth of literature for your child to read at their level. This will support their reading accuracy, speed and comprehension skills. Please encourage your child to access this at least 3 times per week.

Words of the week – we are introducing our children to new vocabulary every week. These words will be sent home on a weekly basis. Please ask your child what they mean and encourage them to use them as often as possible when speaking.

Please encourage your child to read a few pages of their reading book every night. We love to read in our school and believe ‘The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go’

Well being information

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHILD’S FEELINGS is a brand NEW ‘taster’ course from the Solihull Approach which is available using our existing access code. It is an opportunity to try out a shorter online course.

How do I access?

www.inourplace.co.uk

What’s the code?

If you haven’t used it already here is the access code for all the online courses (funded for residents of Liverpool): PURPLEBIN

If, like many parents, you have already used this code, log into your account here and this course will be ready in your dashboard to start whenever you are ready.

Can I tell my family and friends?

Absolutely! Share the news with other families in the area so that they too can take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.

How long is it?

There are 7 modules which each take about 5 minutes to complete and will benefit from time to digest in between.

If you like this…

…you might like the bigger  ‘Understanding your child’ or ‘Understanding your child with additional needs’, or other courses in the series.  www.inourplace.co.uk

Autumn Term Learning

Here is a snapshot of some of the learning and activities we have completed this term.

During Art lessons we have been learning about architecture.  We looked at famous Liverpool buildings and decided to make prints of them.  We also designed our own monuments and created some lovely pictures for display.  Have a look at the top corridor display.

In Science we carried out an investigation to discover which material was the best thermal insulator.

We have used our ICT  skills to help carry out research for our Geography topic.

We enjoy using TT Rockstars to brush up our Multiplication knowledge.

Information about returning to school in September.
