Lest We Forget

We have been making poppies for Remerance Day this week for a special whole school memorial dispalay.

We also watched Year 5 and 6’s Remerance Euhurist in the school hall – we were very impressed with their beutiful singing and acting skills

and we joined in with the whole school for a reflective two minute silence.

100% attendance once again!

The children in Reception J have won best attendance once again this week!  Mrs Lovell has said that we can choose our own reward as a special treat for coming into school everyday.

The children have thought hard and have come up with four possible ideas,

1) a popcorn and movie afternoon,

2) making and baking our own pizzas,

3) hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows or

4) a pancake party were we choose our own fillings

We’re taking a vote to see which idea to go with…   Can you guess what the most popular choice will be?

The day the gaints came to town…

The children have been super excited about the giants coming into town and have been waiting in anticipation for their arrival.  The giant’s antics have been a huge talking point and the children have been very eager to share  their adventures from the weekend talking about what they have seen both in town and on parent’s phones and iPads…

Our weekly visit to Asda

The children have been thinking of interesting and healthy foodstuffs to put on our class snack table.  We hold a class discussion at the beginning of each week, talking about what we might like to snack on.  We then all have a go at writing our own shopping lists before four children are chosen to go to Asda to buy what we need for the week.  The children take with them their shopping lists to help them remember what to buy and they also take it in turns to scan the shopping through the self service point.  They then pack their shopping and work out what coins they will need to use to pay for their items – so much fun and so much learning…

Fun with Numbers

We’ve only been in Reception for a couple of weeks and we’re already looking at how to combine and add together numbers!

Look at how many different ways we have found to make the number seven…  Can you think of anymore?

“So Long, Farewell Mrs Griffiths”

It was the end of an era today as we said “so long farewell” to our teaching assistant and good friend Mrs Griffiths.

The children have been busy all week planning a surprise party for her – what a wonderful day full of very special memories for all involved.

We hope to see you soon Mrs Griffiths!
