Welcome back year 3! what a fantastic start we have had to the new school year.
In our Numeracy lessons we have been learning about place value. We have been working out how to find 10 more 10 less and 100 more 100 less than any given number. We have been practising how to read and write numbers up to 100 and have really enjoyed playing lots of number games including ‘elevens’ and ’round the world’.
In our English lessons we have started reading a fantastic book called Storm. We have looked at how the writer hooks the reader and his use of alliteration and personification. We have also been working really hard on punctuating direct speech.
In P.E with Miss Quinn we have enjoyed playing lots of invasion games.
In music lessons with Mr Lucas we have been exploring rhythms and patterns and even composing our own pieces of music!
We drew some lovely self portraits that we have displayed in our classroom.
In R.E. lessons we have been learning about Prayer. This also links in to our family assembly that we have been rehearsing for.
Our Science topic this half term is Rocks and Soils. We have enjoyed exploring the uses and properties of different rocks and have built up a collection of rocks in our classroom.
We are really enjoying our new reading area in class.
Our school trip to The World Museum was fantastic! We all learnt a lot and our behaviour was wonderful. We have been invited back by the Museum staff any time we like!
We have really enjoyed our sign language sessions this term and had such a great time performing in our sign language assembly.
We made lots of wonderful things in our Parents Christmas Crafts sessions, and the parents seemed to really enjoy themselves too.
We all wore ‘something spotty’ for Children in need day this year and donated money to the charity. We also raised even more money by taking part in a bake sale. We made spotty cakes which were later sold in a very successful bake sale in our school hall. We also had a drawing competition in class to see who could draw the best Pudsey. It was such a fun packed day!
We were very lucky to have a visit form MGL and the robots! we were able to control the robots ourselves and even had a dance with one of them! We learnt such a lot about robotics and programming.
Our Family events afternoon was a great success. All the parents and children had lots of fun making Easter crafts and completing Easter puzzles.
Working really hard on our Vincent Van Gogh topic. Can you guess which famous paintings we are copying?
