March 2016

We had so much fun celebrating World Book Day! We all came to school dressed as our favourite characters… even the teachers! We tried our best to stay in character all day and behave as our character would. It was very exciting!

February 2016

We achieved our next class reward. On the 9th February we had our very own Minecraft Party! We had so much fun playing with our Minecraft toys, colouring in Minecraft pictures, and even making some of our own Minecraft blocks. This has been our favourite class reward so far. What will we choose next?!

We have been having loads of fun celebrating Chinese New Year! Today (8th February) we made our very own Chinese face masks. Can you spot yourself?

January 2016

As part of our Technology topic we have been designing and making our very own healthy sandwiches! When we were designing the sandwiches we needed to make sure we included ingredients from the key food groups. We all included protein and fruit/vegetables in our designs, alongside the obvious carbohydrate (bread)! We had a class vote for the best design and eventually chose Lexie Bracken’s!

To make this sandwich we needed: bread, butter, chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, olives and cocktail sticks!

We worked in groups on the different parts of the process and then put all of the ingredients together to make the full sandwiches, not forgetting the final touch of the olive on a cocktail stick!! Finally we tasted the sandwiches. They were delicious!

December 2015

We have had a special visitor in school from Portals to the Past. His name was Clud and he taught us all sorts of interesting facts about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. In preparation for this workshop, we designed our very own Celtic Shields for our homework. Clud was so impressed with our designs. We really enjoyed taking part in the day’s activities, and imagining what life was like for the Early Britons.

November 2015

We were lucky enough to take a trip to Pizza Express. It was a lovely morning out! Once we got there, we decorated our own chef’s hats and put on special aprons. We made our very own margarita pizzas, by spreading the tomato sauce and then scattering the mozzarella balls. Whilst we were waiting for our pizzas to cook, we tasted lots of interesting ingredients that are sometimes used on pizzas in the restaurant. Some of us were really brave and tried some really unusual foods! Finally we got a chance to taste our pizzas. They were delicious!

We have recently taken a trip to Asda as part of our Technology topic on Healthy Sandwiches. Soon we are going to be designing and making our very own healthy sandwiches, so we went to Asda to explore the different types of breads and spreads which are sold. Before we went, we made a list of the different breads and spreads that we were expecting to see. Once we were there, we ticked them off our lists. There were some breads we hadn’t thought of at school, so we added them to our lists too. Back at school we tasted the different breads we had found. We are really looking forward to designing and making our own sandwiches.

We have chosen a new class reward – a Teddy Bears Picnic! We have been working really hard to earn 20 class stars. It look a long time but we finally managed it!

IMG_3019

Our Teddy Bears picnic was so much fun! First of all we had a competition to see who could design the best paper plate for the picnic. The winners were Cara, Ahmed, Michael Gallagher, Owen, Maisie and Sonny. Then we all introduced our favourite teddies to the rest of the class, and enjoyed a feast of pringles and sausages rolls. We can’t wait to choose our next class reward.

October 2015

We have recently performed our Family Assembly on the theme of Forgiveness! We performed to the whole school and all of our parents too. As part of the assembly we told the story of Joseph, who forgave his brothers even after they sold him as a slave into Egypt! We had lots of fun learning all of the songs and parts to our assembly and performing it on the day.

September 2015

We have all been settling well into Year 3 and getting used to all of our new rules and routines.

Mrs Williams gave us a challenge to earn 15 class stars for a class reward. We can earn class stars for lining up quietly and sensibly, the whole class reading at home, working together as a team, and much more!

For our class reward we chose to have a PJ party. It was so much fun!
